(August 13, 2010) The Northwest Nationals GU14 Red won the US Club National Championship recently, by defeating Ohio Elite 1-0 in overtime!
After a scoreless draw in the last group game yesterday with Ohio Elite, the two teams battled to a stalemate through the end of regulation in the final today. Then, in the last minute of overtime, our girls were able to break through for the winner!
After winning the US Club Regional title, the girls travelled 2,500 miles to Virginia Beach. In group play, they posted wins of 2-0 and 1-0, before the 0-0 draw with Ohio Elite in the last group game yesterday. Throughout the tournament, they were the only team to not lose a game, the only team to not surrender a goal, were tied for most goals scored (4), and had the best goal differential (+4).
The girls won’t soon forget playing on lucky field #13 at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex in Virginia Beach!
Congratulations to coach Vadim Tolstolutsky, Technical Director Todd Schilperoort, and all of the girls for this tremendous achievement! All of us here at Northwest Nationals are so proud of you and we can’t wait to welcome you home!
